you are probably familiar with an electrical switch since this is what you use to turn your home’s lights on and off each day. However, what you probably don’t realize is that there are electrical switchboards that lie behind the functioning of these switches. Basically, electrical switchboards are devices that direct electricity from one point to another. There are several different parts to electrical switchboards though. If you plan on ever working on the electricity within your home, you should know what these different parts are.
First of all, there is a distribution substation. This plays a role in generating, transmitting and distributing the electricity within your home. They transform your voltage from high to low or vice versa.
Secondly, there is what’s known as medium voltage switchgear. This is just one of the many different types of voltage switchgears that are available today. It is used in operating motors and is essentially responsible for distributing the electricity that’s produced therein.
Thirdly, there is a non segregated phase bus. This is used in those situations that demand a whole lot of electricity. For this reason, they are typically used whenever you’re dealing with a minimum of 600 volts of electricity.
Fourth and finall, there is the Siemens bus plug. These are bus plugs that are made by the Siemens manufacturing company. A bus plug is used in situations when fusible switches or ordinary circuit breakers won’t work.
These are all important parts of electrical switchboards. Each of them has its own job to do. While you may feel as though you are able to work on the electricity within your home, now that you know that there are so many parts that go into this electrical work, you may want to rethink things. After all, there’s a very good reason why electricians go to school to be licensed to work on your home’s electricity. This should give you something to think about.
